Paula Deen likes to usage grits that "aren't fancy" -- for instance, not stone-ground -- to marque this elemental and creamy version. See her tips for amended grits (below right).

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupful uncooked regular grits (not instant oregon speedy grits)
  • 1 spoon salt
  • 2 cups water, positive much arsenic needed
  • 6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, astatine country temperature, positive much for garnish (optional)
  • 1/4 cupful dense cream, astatine country temperature
  • 1 tablespoonful to 2 tablespoons finely chopped chives oregon parsley, for garnish (optional)
